WHO ARE WE

Saint fabrics has been in existence for over 40 years traditionally trading directly within the textile industry, during this time we have worked to establish relationships with only the best mills offering the finest of fabrics. We are now opening up a core range, offering our high end linens and natural fibre fabrics, to online customers, for your curtaining and upholstery needs at competitive prices.

ABOUT LINEN

At Saint Fabrics, Linen is one of our favourite fibres and for good reason

Linen is made from flax a fiber that has been entwined with human history for a very long time. There are archaelogical remains of linen from as far back as 8000BC

So for tens of thousands of years Man, has known this gentle gift from nature as a source of textiles due to its lasting durability and strength, unrivalled comfort in both its elastic and heat conducting properties and not to forget the visual appeal of its natural high luster, gentle handle and superb drape ability. Making Linen a fabulous choice for you home too.

Further more Linen fabric is environmentally friendly, hypo allergic, anti static, insect resistant.

A characteristic often associated with a natural linen yarn is the presence of slubs particularly in the decorative home textile industry. Slubs are considered as part of the aesthetic appeal of this expensive natural product.  In fact, in recent years many synthetic/ man made fabrics try to mimic these slubs with limited success.

So what’s not to love!!!

At Saint Fabrics, we have endeavored to source the most beautiful natural linens from accomplished mills in both European and Asian flax crop growing regions and continuously look to add new fabrics in line with current trends. Within our range you will find inherently beautiful linens suitable for curtaining, bed linen, upholstery, table linen and napery.

CARING FOR YOUR FABRIC

LINEN CARE:

Linen is made from natural fibres and as such has a tendency to shrink when first laundered and to fade when exposed to sunlight.

Linen will also become softer and more absorbent with each wash.

Dry cleaning (ideally)

Or if not practical, wash at low temperatures in lukewarm or cold water, on a gentle cycle using a mild detergent. Watch out for detergents that contain optical whitening agents as these contain bleach.

Line drying or flat drying is ideal

Iron while slightly damp on the inside of the fabric

Avoid direct sunlight, to limit uneven fading

GENERAL FABRIC CARE:

All our fabrics are made of natural fibres and will shrink within 5% as is within the international standard.

We therefore, recommend washing the fabric before make up, or increase sizing to accommodate the first shrinkage.

INSPECTION

We have highly skilled fabric inspectors who physically check every meter of every order to ensure that all fabric supplied to our clients meet the SABS standards for 1st grade fabric.

We offer stock fabrics for quick “turn on’s” at competitive prices. All fabrics are fully inspected and dispatched to central locations of Cape Town. We have a showroom in Salt River that displays all of our range. We also have select fabrics and end of ranges at reduced prices only available in our showroom. Alternatively you can contact one of our agents in your area or call our sales staff for any general enquiries.
